As some philosophers have already claimed, nature retains us human beings in “the real world”. It’s almost like this has been done on purpose, like some higher power as set all of this up to keep us “alive”. It is all in such perfect order, as some would say. The point is that nature fiddles with our emotions, it has even been scientifically proven, for example, that beautiful sceneries generate pure dopamine for our minds. To this we can surely all relate to; walks through forests, boat trips, laying on the grass.
Nature heals in stress situation
This reaction the brain creates when confronted with nature should be used as a means to keep our existential crisis at bay, thus maintaining the continuous advancement in human society. By this, nature not only serves as a means to improve our physical living quality, but also our psychological sanity. To benefit the most out of the knowledge we have about the apparatus of the human mind and of nature, we should bring about radical changes.
The infrastructure has to adopted to our need for nature
Firstly, a development in urbanism. According to the UN, nowadays, more than half the world's population lives in cities. While cities are also the economical and administrative centers of nations, they’re mainly conceived as the pillars of our modern society. Hence it is the mayor's’ duty to ensure the wellbeing of their metropolis’ inhabitants by providing them: nature. The concept of “urban garden” is very well known to us city folk, but we fail to apply it. Apart from planting trees throughout a street, it is transcendental to bring about “green places” in strategic points of the municipality.
These locations will aim to be safe areas for nature to flourish in. Unlike common parks, these will be much larger and meant to allocate not only flora, but fauna too. More so, they will require minimal supervision by virtue of nature manifesting itself in its purest state. Undoubtedly it is compulsory to enforce security procedures in these areas to protect citizens from nature and vice versa. Conjointly, the arrangement of “green buildings” and/or “vertical gardens” will set out to reach the same goal: the mental soundness of our citizens and, more immediately, the perseverance of the environment.
The respect for nature and its creatures
Nature has taught us many other things, one of the teachings being, ironically, about itself. In regards to my next point, through the observation of nature we know that, for example, some beings feel physical pain and others don’t. Noticing this and having the means, thanks to the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and its products, enables us to diminish the consumption of animal products and its underlying amorality. Although being a very unsettling topic, today's nutrition is crucial to address when we are talking about nature since it affects it notably.
Part of the benefits of cutting back the animal industry would be: a) A reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, according to studies done by the FAO b) A better use of the land used up by cattle and other farm animals b) A more effective use of drinking water, whose one third is given to livestock c) And lastly, an improvement of the overall human diet by it being a planted-based, according to studies done by The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
All else said, nature is us and we are nature.
Being at the top of the hierarchy allows us to toy with it very much indeed, but it also cedes us the responsibility to use our intellect to do more good for nature which is, as I stated, essentially us. Let it be said that this conclusion has been attained by an a priori thought process and its subsequent verification of my most devoted subject: myself.
